About us
I'm Dale Kinnunen. My grandfather framed houses in the Keweenaw copper country, my dad built barns outside Mellen, and I swung my first hammer on his crew the summer I turned fourteen. After a decade building custom homes down in Eau Claire, my wife and I moved back north in 2009 and I hung out my own shingle here in Ashland.
The business plan hasn't changed since: do the job like it's your own house, charge what you said you'd charge, and leave the site cleaner than you found it. Most of our work comes from referrals and repeat customers — around here it has to, because everybody knows everybody.
It's me and a crew of three: my nephew Erik, plus Sam and Walt, who've been with me over eight years between them. No revolving door of subs you've never met. The person who quotes your job is the person swinging the hammer.

Around town
When we're not on a job you'll find us sponsoring the Ashland youth hockey boards, running the pancake griddle at the fire department fundraiser, and losing gracefully in the Bay Days build-off. This is home; we're not going anywhere.
